Many diseases have always posed a mystery for scientists. From their discovery to their cure, even the simplest of diseases can be complicated things for scientists to understand. Fortunately, technology has come to the aid for people and pets. As technology has advanced, it has made great strides in the prevention of diseases.

Part of that advanced technology is developing a strategy for a more comprehensive system to deal with the flood of information while still taking into account the individuality of a pet. This strategy development is called healthcare informatics. The goal is to have all the information about particular diseases in one cohesive system that is readily available to vets.

This system includes things like what pets might be susceptible to certain diseases, what signs to look for in the earliest stages, how to test for diseases, the progress other animals have had and what preventive measures might be taken.

By figuring out how a disease progresses from conception to the last stages, scientists are better able to predict the triggers for certain diseases. With advanced technology, these triggers can be detected, allowing more preventive measures to be taken to keep the trigger from being pulled. This could keep a pet from getting a disease in the first place, which would save a lot of pain and suffering for the animal. It might also reduce high vet bills for the owner.

The technology in this field is still developing. The hope is that informatics will one day make it possible to keep future animals disease free to live long and happy lives.
